The Communication Department
Through the years divine instruction has come to the church concerning the importance of using contemporary communication media in spreading the gospel. We have been counseled:
“We must take every justifiable means of bringing the light before the people. Let the press be utilized, and let every advertising agency be employed that will call attention to the work.”—Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 36. 122 CHURCH MANUAL
“Means will be devised to reach hearts. Some of the methods used in this work will be different from the methods used in the work in the past. . . .”—Evangelism, p. 105.
This department is attempting to use these as well as any other methods in the communication world to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Programs such as Voice of Prophecy and Pacific Praise amongst others are aired on HopeTV as well as Radio in over 150 countries worldwide. To view the Hope channel you can log onto www.hopetv.org. There is also 3ABN, a privately owned Adventist institution that the message is being transmitted via satellite. The Adventist Review Magazine, the Echo magazines and tracts are just 3 of many written means of spreading the gospel. Much of the work in physically unreachable areas of the world will be completed via written and Radio/Television programs. This is the goal of the Communication Department, reach the unreachable with the message of salvation.
